Temporary Shelter and Affordable Housing Coming Soon from Dekomforter Resource Foundation to Help Domestic Violence Victims and Low-Income Families in Cook and Lake County

Dekomforter Resource Foundation (DRF) is excited to announce the development of new temporary shelter and affordable housing programs aimed at supporting survivors of domestic violence and low-income families in Cook and Lake County. These housing initiatives are part of our ongoing mission to empower individuals and families in crisis by providing them with the stability and resources they need to rebuild their lives.

Why Temporary Shelter is Essential

For survivors of domestic violence, immediate access to safe, secure housing is critical. DRF’s temporary shelter will provide a haven where individuals and families can escape abusive situations and begin the healing process. These shelters will offer more than just a place to stay—they will also provide access to essential support services such as:

  • Mental health counseling
  • Legal assistance
  • Life skills training
  • Career development resources

Affordable Housing: A Step Toward Long-Term Stability

Once survivors and families are ready to move beyond temporary shelter, affordable housing options will be available through DRF’s housing programs. Affordable housing is vital for low-income families and survivors of domestic violence, as it allows them to regain independence without the stress of unaffordable rent. DRF is committed to creating a supportive community where residents can thrive and work toward long-term self-sufficiency.

Who Will Benefit?

These housing initiatives will primarily serve:

  • Survivors of domestic violence in need of emergency shelter and long-term affordable housing
  • Low-income families facing housing instability
  • Individuals with disabilities who require supportive housing environments
  • Families in crisis who need temporary, transitional housing as they work toward financial independence

How You Can Help

To make these housing projects a reality, DRF is actively fundraising and seeking community partnerships. Your support—whether through donations, volunteering, or advocacy—will make a significant difference in the lives of those in need. Together, we can provide a brighter future for domestic violence survivors and families in our community.
Stay tuned for more updates on the launch of these critical housing programs. For more information or to learn how you can contribute to DRF’s mission, please contact our office or visit our website.
